                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, authorizing investigators of child
     3     abuse to rely on factual investigations conducted by a law
     4     enforcement agency.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 6362 of Title 23 of the Pennsylvania
     8  Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
     9  § 6362.  Responsibilities of child protective service.

    11     (d)  Reliance on factual investigation.--An agency charged by
    12  this section or section 6361 (relating to organization of child
    13  protective service) with investigating a report of child abuse
    14  may, in its discretion, rely on a factual investigation by a law
    15  enforcement agency of substantially the same allegations to


     1  support the agency's finding. This reliance shall not, however,
     2  limit the duties imposed by section 6368(a) (relating to
     3  investigation of reports).
     4     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
