AN ACT
1 Amending the act of November 22, 1978 (P.L.1166, No.274),
2 entitled "An act establishing the Pennsylvania Commission on
3 Crime and Delinquency, providing for its powers and duties
4 establishing several advisory committees within the
5 commission and providing for their powers and duties,"
6 further providing for composition of the Pennsylvania
7 Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 2(b) and (d) of the act of November 22,
11 1978 (P.L.1166, No.274), referred to as the Pennsylvania
12 Commission on Crime and Delinquency Law, is amended to read:
13 Section 2. Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

15 (b) Composition.--The commission shall consist of the
16 following members:
17 (1) The Attorney General.
18 (2) The Chief Justice of Pennsylvania.
19 (3) The Court Administrator of Pennsylvania.
1 (4) A judge of a court of common pleas.
2 (5) Commissioner of State Police.
3 (6) The chairmen of the House and Senate Majority
4 Appropriations Committees.
5 (7) The chairman of the Juvenile Advisory Committee.
6 (8) Four members of the General Assembly, of whom one
7 shall be designated by, and serve at the pleasure of the
8 President pro tempore of the Senate, one by the Minority
9 Leader of the Senate, one by the Speaker of the House of
10 Representatives and one by the Minority Leader of the House
11 of Representatives.
12 (9) Four members appointed by the Governor, one
13 representative of local law enforcement agencies, one
14 representative of adult correctional rehabilitative agencies,
15 one representative of local elected officials and one
16 district attorney representative.
17 (10) Seven private citizens appointed by the Governor,
18 at least two of which serve on the Juvenile Advisory
19 Committee.
20 (11) Secretary of Corrections.
21 (12) Such additional members appointed by the Governor
22 as are necessary to implement programs authorized by State
23 and Federal law.
24 (13) The chairman of the Deputy Sheriffs Education and
25 Training Board.

27 (d) Term of office.--Except for the Attorney General, the
28 Chief Justice, Court Administrator of Pennsylvania courts [and],
29 Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police, [Commissioner of
30 Correction] Secretary of Corrections, the chairmen of the House

1 and Senate Majority Appropriations Committees and the four other
2 members of the General Assembly, members shall serve for a four-
3 year term, and may be appointed for no more than one additional
4 consecutive term. The terms of those members who serve by virtue
5 of the public office they hold shall be concurrent with their
6 service in the office from which they derive their membership.
7 The term of the [chairman] chairmen of the Juvenile Advisory
8 Committee and the Deputy Sheriffs Education and Training Board
9 shall be concurrent with [his] their service as [chairman of
10 that committee] chairmen of those committees.

12 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
