AN ACT 1 Amending the act of June 23, 1931 (P.L.932, No.317), entitled 2 "An act relating to cities of the third class; and amending, 3 revising, and consolidating the law relating thereto," 4 further providing for the sale of real and personal property. 5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 6 hereby enacts as follows: 7 Section 1. The act of June 23, 1931 (P.L.932, No.317), known 8 as The Third Class City Code, reenacted and amended June 28, 9 1951 (P.L.662, No.164), is amended by adding a section to read: 10 Section 1919. Sales of Real and Personal Property to Certain 11 Entities.--Any provision of this act requiring advertising for 12 bids and sale to the highest bidder shall not apply where city 13 real or personal property is to be sold to a county, city, 14 borough, town, township, institution district, school district, 15 volunteer fire company, volunteer ambulance service or volunteer 16 rescue squad located within the city, or municipal authority 17 pursuant to the act of May 2, 1945 (P.L.382, No.164), known as
1 the "Municipality Authorities Act of 1945," is to be sold to a 2 corporation not for profit engaged in community industrial 3 development, or where real property is to be sold to a 4 corporation not for profit organized as a public library for its 5 exclusive use as a library, or where real property is to be sold 6 to a medical service corporation not for profit, or where real 7 property is to be sold to a housing corporation not for profit, 8 or where real property is to be sold to the Commonwealth or to 9 the Federal government. When real property is to be sold to a 10 corporation not for profit organized as a public library for its 11 exclusive use as a library or to a medical service corporation 12 not for profit or to a housing corporation not for profit, 13 council may elect to accept such nominal consideration for such 14 sale as it shall deem appropriate. Real property sold pursuant 15 to this section to a volunteer fire company, volunteer ambulance 16 service or volunteer rescue squad shall be subject to the 17 condition that when the property is not used for the purposes of 18 the company, service, squad or the corporation the property 19 shall revert to the city. 20 Section 2.
