                                     AN ACT

     1  Providing for the display of the POW/MIA flag at certain public
     2     buildings in this Commonwealth.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Legislative findings and declaration.
     6     It is hereby recognized and declared by the General Assembly
     7  that:
     8         (1)  Numerous Americans, including several from
     9     Pennsylvania, who served in the United States Armed Forces
    10     remain missing in action or prisoners of war.
    11         (2)  These servicemen, having demonstrated their courage
    12     and dedication to the United States, should be honored for
    13     their bravery and acknowledged for their POW/MIA status.
    14         (3)  The official POW/MIA flag is an appropriate symbol


     1     to honor these servicemen and to transmit the message
     2     Statewide that they are not forgotten.
     3  Section 2.  POW/MIA flag to be displayed.
     4     (a)  General rule.--The POW/MIA flag shall be displayed
     5  during normal business hours at the following public buildings
     6  in this Commonwealth: the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg
     7  and the State office buildings in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh,
     8  Reading and Scranton.
     9     (b)  Optional rule.--The POW/MIA flag may be displayed during
    10  normal business hours at the following public buildings in this
    11  Commonwealth: the principal municipal building in any
    12  municipality and the principal county building in any county
    13  seat.
    14  Section 3.  Effective date.
    15     This act shall take effect immediately.
