AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
2 act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
3 welfare laws of the Commonwealth," providing for the closing
4 of State general hospitals.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known
8 as the Public Welfare Code, is amended by adding a section to
9 read:
10 Section 324. Closing.--A State general hospital may not be
11 closed unless there is compliance with all of the following:
12 (1) A plan for the closing is submitted to the General
13 Assembly for consideration and is approved in accord with the
14 act of April 7, 1955 (P.L.23, No.8), known as the
15 "Reorganization Act of 1955."
16 (2) A private entity is ready, willing and able to take over
17 the operation of the hospital with no interruption of medical
18 services.
19 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
