A RESOLUTION 1 Directing the Health and Welfare Committee to investigate the 2 availability of family health care practitioners in rural 3 areas. 4 WHEREAS, The practice of family medicine as an advanced 5 concept in health care has become a vital and successful concept 6 in maintaining the well-being of Pennsylvania families; and 7 WHEREAS, Rural Pennsylvania areas have traditionally been 8 neglected by health care practitioners, to the detriment of a 9 large segment of the Pennsylvania population located in those 10 areas; and 11 WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of the Commonwealth of 12 Pennsylvania that all its citizens, rural as well as 13 metropolitan, be given access to up-to-date, state-of-the-art 14 health care practices; therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That the Health and Welfare Committee of the House 16 of Representatives investigate the status of medical services in
1 rural areas, particularly the availability of family health care 2 practitioners to rural families; and be if further 3 RESOLVED, That the committee may hold public hearings, take 4 testimony and make its study at such places as it deems 5 necessary within the Commonwealth. Each member of the committee 6 shall have the power to administer oaths and affirmations to 7 witnesses appearing before the committee; and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That the committee make a report of its findings 9 and recommendations to the House of Representatives not later 10 than June 30, 1990.
