        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, APRIL 4, 1989

                            A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

     1  Proclaiming April 30, 1989, as "Sons of the American Revolution
     2     Centennial Day."

     3     WHEREAS, The Sons of the American Revolution, the largest and
     4  one of the oldest male hereditary geneological societies, was
     5  organized on April 30, 1889, and was incorporated by joint
     6  action of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the
     7  United States under Public Law 59-214; and
     8     WHEREAS, Its patriotic, historic and educational objectives
     9  include activities intended or designed to perpetuate the memory
    10  of those who, by their services during the American Revolution,
    11  achieved the independence of this nation; and
    12     WHEREAS, The National Society, Sons of the American
    13  Revolution, is celebrating its centennial year in 1989;
    14  therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
     2  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania declare April 30, 1989, as
     3  "Sons of the American Revolution Centennial Day."
