AN ACT 1 Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled 2 "An act concerning elections, including general, municipal, 3 special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates, 4 primary and election expenses and election contests; creating 5 and defining membership of county boards of elections; 6 imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth, 7 courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners; 8 imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying, 9 revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and 10 repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to 11 elections," providing for information on candidates for 12 judicial offices. 13 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 14 hereby enacts as follows: 15 Section 1. The act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), known 16 as the Pennsylvania Election Code, is amended by adding a 17 section to read: 18 Section 910.1. Judicial Candidate Information.--(a) Each 19 judicial candidate for any Supreme Court, Superior Court, 20 Commonwealth Court and court of common pleas shall file a 21 judicial candidate information form with the Department of State 22 stating:
1 1. His name and residence, with street and number, and his 2 post-office address, if any, for the past ten (10) years. 3 2. His date and place of birth. 4 3. His complete occupational history. 5 4. His educational background from high school through post 6 secondary degrees. 7 5. Names of all organizations, associations, clubs, church 8 groups and professional societies with which he has been 9 associated. 10 6. A list of awards and achievements. 11 7. A list of all elected or appointed public offices held. 12 8. His party registration. 13 9. A month prior to the general election, a list of 14 organizations, associations, labor unions, political action 15 committees and other groups that have endorsed or supported his 16 candidacy. 17 (b) The Department of State shall create a standard form and 18 require that the judicial candidate information be published in 19 all newspapers, of a circulation determined by the department at 20 least twice before the primary and general elections and be made 21 available at all State, county, municipal and court office 22 buildings under the jurisdiction of such judicial office. 23 (c) A fee of two hundred fifty dollars ($250) shall be 24 required from each candidate for the purpose of administering 25 this section. 26 (d) For purposes of this section, an additional one dollar 27 ($1) court fee shall be charged to all criminal and civil cases 28 brought before the courts of this Commonwealth. 29 Section 2.
