AN ACT
1 Making appropriations to the Trustees of the University of
2 Pennsylvania.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The following sums, or as much thereof as may be
6 necessary, are hereby appropriated to the Trustees of the
7 University of Pennsylvania for the fiscal year July 1, 1989, to
8 June 30, 1990, for the purposes and in the amounts as shown:
9 (1) For instruction, excluding Veterinary <--
10 Medicine programs and Doctor of Medicine.......... 15,545,000
11 (2) For dental clinics........................ 997,000
12 (3) For instruction in the Doctor of Medicine
13 program........................................... 4,295,000
14 (4) For instruction in Veterinary Medicine
15 programs only..................................... 7,481,000
16 (5) For the New Bolton Animal Center.......... 3,509,000
17 (6) For the Center for Animal Health and

14 Section 2. Payments to the University of Pennsylvania on
15 account of the appropriations for the items provided in section
16 1 shall be made quarterly by the Secretary of Education on the
17 basis of costs during the fiscal year.
18 Section 3. The University of Pennsylvania shall provide such
19 information as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of
20 this act and in such form and manner as the Department of
21 Education shall prescribe.
22 Section 4. The University of Pennsylvania shall report its
23 revenues and expenditures and present its financial statements
24 in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and
25 procedures for educational institutions as set forth in the
26 "Higher Education Finance Manual (1975)" and the "Commonwealth
27 of Pennsylvania Budget Instructions for the State System of
28 Higher Education, State-Related Universities and Non-State-
29 Related Colleges and Universities."
30 Section 5. This act shall take effect July 1, 1989, or
