AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for an exemption for the overall 3 length of a load and its transporting vehicle or combination. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 4923(b) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 8 § 4923. Length of vehicles. 9 * * * 10 (b) Exceptions.--The limitations of (a) do not apply to the 11 following: 12 (1) Any motor vehicle equipped with a boom or boom-like 13 device if the vehicle does not exceed 55 feet. 14 (2) Any combination transporting articles which do not 15 exceed 70 feet in length and are nondivisible as to length. 16 (3) Any bus of an articulated design which does not 17 exceed 60 feet. 18 (4) Any motor vehicle towing a disabled motor vehicle to
1 a location for repair or to some other place of safety. 2 (5) A combination designed and used exclusively for 3 carrying motor vehicles if the overall length of the 4 combination and load does not exceed 65 feet. When driven as 5 described in section 4908 (relating to operation of certain 6 combinations on interstate and certain primary highways), the 7 load may extend beyond the 65-foot limit of such a 8 combination by no more than three feet in the front and no 9 more than four feet to the rear. Both saddle-mount and full- 10 mount mechanisms shall qualify under this exception. 11 (6) Any combination consisting of a truck tractor and 12 one or two trailers, when driven as described in section 4908 13 (relating to operation of certain combinations on interstate 14 and certain primary highways). Except when being operated as 15 a part of a combination of a tractor and single trailer not 16 exceeding an overall length of 60 feet, the length of a 17 single trailer shall not exceed 48 feet and the length of 18 each double trailer shall not exceed 28 1/2 feet. A single 19 trailer not wider than eight feet, when driven as described 20 in section 4908, may have an overall length not exceeding 53 21 feet. 22 (7) Any motor vehicle or combination transporting loads 23 of logs. 24 Section 2. Section 4924(d) of Title 75 is amended to read: 25 § 4924. Limitations on length of projecting loads. 26 * * * 27 (d) Exceptions.--This section does not apply to [a]: 28 (1) A motor vehicle specifically designed and being used 29 to transport roof trusses. 30 (2) A motor vehicle or combination transporting loads of 19890H1455B1693 - 2 -

2 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
