AN ACT 1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania 2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for endangering the 3 welfare of children. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 4304 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes, amended December 19, 1988 (P.L.1275, 8 No.158), is amended to read: 9 § 4304. Endangering welfare of children. 10 (a) Offense defined.--A parent, guardian, or other person 11 supervising the welfare of a child under 18 years of age commits 12 [a misdemeanor of the first degree] an offense if he knowingly 13 endangers the welfare of the child by violating a duty of care, 14 protection or support. 15 (b) Grading.--An offense under this section constitutes a
1 misdemeanor of the second degree. However, where there is a 2 protracted pattern or multiple incidents of endangering the 3 welfare of the child, the offense shall constitute a felony of 4 the third degree. 5 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. C30L18VDL/19890H1123B1283 - 2 -
