AN ACT
1 Amending Title 72 (Taxation and Fiscal Affairs) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
3 entry into a decedent's safe deposit box.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 1792(e) of Title 72 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
8 § 1792. Entry without notice to department.

10 (e) Entry into box to remove [will and cemetery deed]
11 certain documents.--Nothing in this subchapter shall prohibit a
12 financial institution from permitting entry into a safe deposit
13 box of a decedent for the sole purpose of removing the
14 decedent's will and life insurance policy and evidence of
15 ownership of the burial lot in which the decedent is to be
16 interred. An employee of the financial institution must be
1 present at the opening of the box and make or cause to be made a
2 record of the documents removed from the safe deposit box during
3 the entry and attest the record to be correct and complete under
4 penalty of perjury.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
