AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," further providing for the 6 standardized driver-education program. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Section 1519.1 of the act of March 10, 1949 10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, 11 amended January 24, 1966 (1965 P.L.1506, No.528), is amended to 12 read: 13 Section 1519.1. Standardized Driver-Education Program.-- 14 (a) The Department of Public Instruction shall establish, 15 for operation in the public school system of the Commonwealth, a 16 standardized driver-education program in the safe operation of 17 motor vehicles, which shall include instruction on the 18 provisions of 18 Pa.C.S. §§ 6307 (relating to misrepresentation 19 of age to serve liquor or malt or brewed beverages), 6308
1 (relating to purchase, consumption, possession or transportation 2 of liquor or malt or brewed beverages), 6310.3 (relating to 3 carrying a false identification card), 6310.4 (relating to 4 restriction of operating privileges), 6310.5 (relating to 5 predisposition evaluation), 6310.6 (relating to definitions) and 6 6313 (relating to special information), available to all public 7 high school pupils and all high school pupils attending 8 nonpublic high schools. 9 (b) The Department of Public Instruction shall assist school 10 districts throughout the Commonwealth in the functioning of such 11 program by-- 12 (1) Preparation, publication and free distribution of 13 driver-education instructional material to insure a more 14 complete understanding of the duties of motor vehicle operators; 15 (2) Making such rules and regulations as may be necessary to 16 carry out such program. 17 (c) Annual expenditures of the Department of Public 18 Instruction from the Motor License Fund for (1) salaries and 19 expenses of employes of the Department of Public Instruction 20 essential to the program; (2) purchase of visual training aids 21 and psychophysical testing equipment; and (3) costs of 22 preparation, publication and distribution of driver-education 23 instructional material, for assistance to their driver-education 24 programs, shall not exceed three (3) per centum of the annual 25 total amount paid by the Commonwealth to all school districts, 26 or joint school organizations, on account of standardized 27 driver-education programs. 28 Section 2.
