        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON STATE GOVERNMENT, FEBRUARY 8, 1989

                               A JOINT RESOLUTION

     1  Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth
     2     of Pennsylvania, providing for four-year terms for members of
     3     the House of Representatives.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby resolves as follows:
     6     Section 1.  The following amendment to the Constitution of
     7  Pennsylvania is proposed in accordance with Article XI:
     8     That section 3 of Article II be amended to read:
     9  § 3.  Terms of members.
    10     Senators and Representatives shall be elected for the term of
    11  four years [and Representatives for the term of two years].
    12     Section 2.  At the first general election at which a governor
    13  is elected after the adoption of this amendment, and every four
    14  years thereafter, Representatives shall be elected for terms of
    15  four years.
