                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Congratulating the African Methodist Episcopal Church on its
     2     200th Anniversary.

     3     WHEREAS, The African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded
     4  in Philadelphia by Absalom Jones, a former slave who was born in
     5  Sussex, Delaware, in 1746; and
     6     WHEREAS, In 1987 the African Methodist Episcopal Church will
     7  be celebrating its 200th Anniversary; therefore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate and
     9  honor the African Methodist Episcopal Church on the meaningful
    10  and momentous occasion of its 200th Anniversary.
