        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, APRIL 27, 1987

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the House Committee on Conservation to hold hearings
     2     on the environmental impact of mass burn incineration plants.

     3     WHEREAS, The problem of solid waste disposal has reached new
     4  heights; and
     5     WHEREAS, Many counties have reached or are about to reach
     6  maximum disposal limitations; and
     7     WHEREAS, Many local governments are considering mass burn
     8  incineration as a viable alternative to burying trash; and
     9     WHEREAS, Environmental concerns have been raised concerning
    10  mass burn incinerators; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the Speaker of the House of Representatives
    12  direct the Committee on Conservation to hold hearings to
    13  determine the safety and environmental impacts of mass burn
    14  incinerators and the possible need for further regulation of
    15  such incinerators; and be it further
    16     RESOLVED, That the committee report its findings within one
    17  year to the House of Representatives.
