                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Amending House Resolution No. 28, adopted March 4, 1987,
     2     entitled "A resolution directing the House Committee on
     3     Conservation to hold hearings on the environmental impact of
     4     mass burn incineration plants," extending the period for the
     5     filing of the committee's report.

     6     RESOLVED, That House Resolution No. 28, adopted March 4,
     7  1987, be amended to read:
     8                            A RESOLUTION
     9  Directing the House Committee on Conservation to hold hearings
    10     on the environmental impact of mass burn incineration plants.
    11     WHEREAS, The problem of solid waste disposal has reached new
    12  heights; and
    13     WHEREAS, Many counties have reached or are about to reach
    14  maximum disposal limitations; and
    15     WHEREAS, Many local governments are considering mass burn
    16  incineration as a viable alternative to burying trash; and
    17     WHEREAS, Environmental concerns have been raised concerning
    18  mass burn incinerators; therefore be it
    19     RESOLVED, That the Speaker of the House of Representatives

     1  direct the Committee on Conservation to hold hearings to
     2  determine the safety and environmental impacts of mass burn
     3  incinerators and the possible need for further regulation of
     4  such incinerators; and be it further
     5     RESOLVED, That the committee report its findings within [90
     6  days] one year to the House of Representatives.
