A RESOLUTION 1 Honoring the Girl Scouts on the 75th Anniversary of the 2 organization. 3 WHEREAS, Since Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts on 4 March 12, 1912, many girls have received an opportunity to learn 5 leadership, citizenship and service skills through participating 6 in this organization; and 7 WHEREAS, There are today nearly 3,000,000 Girl Scouts, 8 including Daisy Scouts, Brownies, Juniors, Cadets, Seniors and 9 Leaders, which means that 1 girl out of every 10, ages 5 to 17, 10 is a Girl Scout; and 11 WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts have kept pace with the needs of 12 society, awarding badges 70 years ago for such skills as "dairy 13 maid," "laundress," and "matron housekeeper," while today 14 awarding badges for "leadership," "technology" and 15 "communication"; and 16 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania benefits daily from 17 the contributions made by individual Girl Scouts and by the Girl
