A RESOLUTION 1 Urging more interest in and study of the Constitution of the 2 United States. 3 WHEREAS, In 1987 we will be celebrating the 200th Anniversary 4 of the signing of the Constitution of United States; and 5 WHEREAS, The School Code calls for the study of the 6 Constitution of United States to be included in the social 7 studies curriculum in all public, private and parochial schools 8 of our Commonwealth; and 9 WHEREAS, With the approaching celebration in mind, the 10 schools of our Commonwealth should devote more time and place 11 more emphasis on the study of the United States Constitution and 12 its importance to the American way of life; and 13 WHEREAS, Courses on the Constitution should also be included 14 in evening curriculums for persons beyond regular school age in 15 order to enhance their knowledge and understanding of this
1 timeless document; therefore be it 2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all the 3 residents of Pennsylvania to study and take a greater interest 4 in the Constitution of the United States; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of Education be requested to 6 instruct schools throughout this Commonwealth to place special 7 emphasis on courses relating to the Constitution, and to make 8 such courses available in evening curriculums; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to 10 the Acting Secretary of Education, William R.
