                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 5, 1968 (P.L.140, No.78), entitled "An
     2     act regulating the writing, cancellation of or refusal to
     3     renew policies of automobile insurance; and imposing powers
     4     and duties on the Insurance Commissioner therefor," mandating
     5     a grace period for payment of premiums.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  The act of June 5, 1968 (P.L.140, No.78),
     9  entitled "An act regulating the writing, cancellation of or
    10  refusal to renew policies of automobile insurance; and imposing
    11  powers and duties on the Insurance Commissioner therefor," is
    12  amended by adding a section to read:
    13     Section 4.2.  Every policy of automobile insurance in effect
    14  on the effective date of this section, and every policy of
    15  automobile insurance written, or renewed after the effective
    16  date of this section shall be construed to have a thirty-day
    17  grace period within which the owner of the policy may pay his or

     1  her premium. This thirty-day grace period shall commence on the
     2  due date of the premium. No policy of automobile insurance may
     3  be cancelled during the grace period and no insurer shall refuse
     4  to issue or renew such a policy on the grounds that premium
     5  payment was made during the grace period.
     6     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
