                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of October 7, 1976 (P.L.1090, No.218), entitled
     2     "An act relating to abuse of adults and children by a person
     3     who resides with them; and providing for remedies and
     4     procedures," requiring that the training of local law
     5     enforcement officers include instruction concerning
     6     protection from abuse.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The act of October 7, 1976 (P.L.1090, No.218),
    10  known as the Protection From Abuse Act, is amended by adding a
    11  section to read:
    12     Section 3.1.  Responsibilities of Local Law Enforcement
    13  Agencies.--The police department of each city, borough,
    14  incorporated town and township shall insure that all its
    15  officers and employees are familiar with the provisions of this
    16  act. Instruction concerning protection from abuse shall be made
    17  a part of the training curriculum for all trainee officers.
    18     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
