                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled
     2     "An act concerning elections, including general, municipal,
     3     special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates,
     4     primary and election expenses and election contests; creating
     5     and defining membership of county boards of elections;
     6     imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth,
     7     courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners;
     8     imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying,
     9     revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and
    10     repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to
    11     elections," further providing for qualifications of electors.

    12     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    13  hereby enacts as follows:
    14     Section 1.  Section 701 of the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333,
    15  No.320), known as the Pennsylvania Election Code, amended July
    16  3, 1974 (P.L.443, No.153), is amended to read:
    17     Section 701.  Qualifications of Electors.--Every citizen of
    18  this Commonwealth [eighteen] seventeen years of age, possessing
    19  the following qualifications, shall be entitled to vote at all
    20  elections, provided he or she has complied with the provisions
    21  of the acts requiring and regulating the registration of
    22  electors:

     1     (1)  He or she shall have been a citizen of the United States
     2  at least one month.
     3     (2)  He or she shall have resided in the State ninety days
     4  immediately preceding the election.
     5     (3)  He or she shall have resided in the election district
     6  where he or she shall offer to vote at least thirty days
     7  immediately preceding the election, except that if qualified to
     8  vote in an election district prior to removal of residence, he
     9  or she may, if a resident of Pennsylvania, vote in the election
    10  district from which he or she removed his or her residence
    11  within thirty days preceding the election.
    12     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
