                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," limiting the requirement of paying
     6     prevailing wages under contracts entered into by school
     7     districts.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  Section 752 of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
    11  No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended to
    12  read:
    13     Section 752.  Contracts to Require Competent Workmen.--All
    14  contracts, hereafter awarded and entered into by any school
    15  district, shall contain a clause or stipulation requiring that
    16  no person shall be employed to do work under such contract
    17  except competent and first-class workmen and mechanics. No
    18  workmen shall be regarded as competent and first-class, within
    19  the meaning of this act, except those who are duly skilled in
    20  their respective branches of labor, and who shall, when the

     1  contract is in excess of the monetary limit set forth in the
     2  definition of "public work" in the act of August 15, 1961
     3  (P.L.987, No.442), known as the "Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage
     4  Act," be paid not less than such rates of wages and for such
     5  hours' work as shall be the established and current rates of
     6  wages paid for such hours by employers of organized labor in
     7  doing of similar work in the district where work is being done.
     8     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
