AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for THE <--
3 STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AND FOR exceptions to the two-year <--
4 statute of limitations for actions under the Vehicle Code.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Section 5553(e) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
8 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
9 § 5553. Summary offenses involving vehicles.

11 (e) Disposition of proceedings within [two] FOUR years.--No <--
12 proceedings shall be held or action taken pursuant to a summary
13 offense under Title 75 subsequent to [two] FOUR years after the <--
14 commission of the offense. This limitation does not apply to any
15 action taken or any proceeding held, including any discharge of
16 an action in cases where the necessary records are no longer
17 available, if taken or held by an issuing authority on a summary
18 offense charged under Title 75, pursuant to the application of a
1 person whose operating privilege has been suspended under 75
2 Pa.C.S. § 1533 (relating to suspension of operating privilege
3 for failure to respond to citation). This subsection does not
4 apply to the offenses set forth in 75 Pa.C.S. § 6503 (relating
5 to subsequent convictions of certain offenses).
6 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
