                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled
     2     "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth,
     3     sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising,
     4     consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto,"
     5     increasing the amount that may be spent on burials.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 2166 of the act of August 9, 1955
     9  (P.L.323, No.130), known as The County Code, amended December
    10  22, 1965 (P.L.1162, No.456), is amended to read:
    11     Section 2166.  Provision for Burial of Dependents and Other
    12  Persons.--Except as otherwise provided by law, the county
    13  commissioners of counties of the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh
    14  and eighth classes shall provide for the burial of any person
    15  who dies in the county unless his body is claimed by a relative
    16  by blood or marriage, or by a friend, or by his fraternal or
    17  veterans' organization, or by a charitable organization, or by
    18  the Anatomical Board of the State of Pennsylvania, and is buried
    19  at the expense of such relative, friend or organization. No such

     1  burial shall cost more than [three hundred dollars ($300)] seven
     2  hundred dollars ($700).
     3     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
