SENATE RESOLUTION

           STAPLETON, O'PAKE, STOUT, SINGEL, LEWIS AND SALVATORE,
           NOVEMBER 21, 1985

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing Congress to conduct a meaningful investigation
     2     into published reports confirming the presence of up to 200
     3     American prisoners of war in Southeast Asia and to redouble
     4     its efforts to locate, rescue and return all American POW's
     5     to their families here in the United States.

     6     WHEREAS, Newspapers have published reports conducted by
     7  nationally recognized investigative reporters confirming the
     8  presence of American prisoners of war in Southeast Asia; and
     9     WHEREAS, These reports draw on information obtained from
    10  ranking military officials, top secret military intelligence
    11  reports, satellite photos, communications intercepts and agents
    12  operating in Southeast Asia; and
    13     WHEREAS, It is estimated that there are approximately 200
    14  living Americans being held by hostile governments as prisoners
    15  of war in a war that ended over ten years ago for the purpose of
    16  torture, technical assistance and psychological experiments; and
    17     WHEREAS, Affidavits filed in Federal court claim that United
    18  States military officials violated Federal law by deliberately
    19  ignoring or discrediting reports of live POW sightings in

     1  Southeast Asia; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     3  memorialize the Congress of the United States to conduct a
     4  meaningful investigation into these reports and others
     5  concerning Americans being held as prisoners of war in Southeast
     6  Asia; and be it further
     7     RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  memorialize the Congress of the United States to redouble its
     9  efforts to locate and rescue these valiant men of the Vietnam
    10  Conflict who remain in enemy territory and return these
    11  servicemen to their families here in the United States; and be
    12  it further
    13     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
    14  the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each
    15  member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
