HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 332 Session of 1986

INTRODUCED BY JOSEPHS, PICCOLA, ITKIN, HARPER, KUKOVICH, CARN
           AND ACOSTA, JULY 1, 1986

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JULY 29, 1986

                                  A RESOLUTION

1 Condemning violent actions against abortion clinics.

2 WHEREAS, Feelings run deep between those who oppose legal
3 abortion and those who believe that a woman should be able to
4 obtain a medically safe, legal abortion under certain
     5 circumstances; and
6 WHEREAS, Our society is one in which the differing points of
7 view can be openly discussed and debated; and
8 WHEREAS, Our society is also based on law and order, and
9 those who express their views or engage in the practices they
10 believe to be proper should not be subjected to intimidation and
    11 violence; and
12 WHEREAS, Recent incidents in which abortion clinics have been
13 bombed and otherwise damaged and in which violence against
14 persons has occurred are not only in violation of the law, but
15 also repugnant to our way of life; and
16 WHEREAS, Regardless of our respective positions on legal
17 abortion, we agree unanimously that there are no circumstances

1 that justify the use of violence; therefore be it
2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives condemn recent
3 acts of violence against abortion clinics and persons and
4 express its disgust and disdain for such despicable and
     5 repulsive behavior.
