A RESOLUTION 1 Directing the Joint State Government Commission to investigate 2 the legality, feasibility and social impact of establishing 3 limitations on monentary awards in personal injury cases. 4 WHEREAS, Numerous large monentary awards in personal injury 5 negligence cases are causing adverse economic effects for 6 individuals, corporations and insurers; and 7 WHEREAS, These adverse economic effects include the 8 imposition of higher costs on all consumers to the detriment of 9 the purchasing public; and 10 WHEREAS, A number of serious questions have been raised 11 relating to the actual damage and the monentary value of that 12 damage which occurs from personal injury negligence cases; now 13 therefore be it 14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the Joint 15 State Government Commission to undertake an immediate 16 investigation of the legality, feasibility and social impact of 17 establishing and imposing limitations on the amount of monentary 18 awards in personal injury cases; and be it further
