                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Encouraging school systems of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     2     to use the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.

     3     WHEREAS, The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
     4  affords an opportunity to acquaint students with many
     5  vocational-technical job fields, both civilian and military,
     6  before the students become committed to a particular academic
     7  pathway; and
     8     WHEREAS, The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery can
     9  be a valuable test instrument in advising and guiding those
    10  students who display the aptitude, interest, and motivation to
    11  seek training and employment in vocational-technical fields; and
    12     WHEREAS, The information obtained from the test results of
    13  the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is vital to put
    14  quality men and women into the National Guard and the military
    15  forces of the United States; and
    16     WHEREAS, Because of the increasing complexities of modern


     1  weapons systems, the need for intelligent, well-educated young
     2  men and women has never been greater; and
     3     WHEREAS, The military services should be afforded an
     4  opportunity to make students aware of occupational or
     5  educational options, especially in these times of national
     6  crises; therefore be it
     7     RESOLVED, That the public schools of the Commonwealth of
     8  Pennsylvania be encouraged to use the Armed Services Vocational
     9  Aptitude Battery for the purpose of informing high school
    10  seniors of educational and career opportunities available in the
    11  military service; and be it further
    12     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    13  the Secretary of Education and to the superintendent of each
    14  school district in this Commonwealth.
