                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing President Reagan to work toward halting nuclear
     2     testing and toward a test ban treaty.

     3     WHEREAS, The nuclear arms race poses a threat to all of
     4  humanity; and
     5     WHEREAS, The escalation of the arms race creates a financial
     6  burden on the United States taxpayers and on the Pennsylvania
     7  economy; and
     8     WHEREAS, The November summit meeting in Geneva presents an
     9  historic opportunity for progress towards world peace; and
    10     WHEREAS, Halting nuclear testing is a crucial step in this
    11  process; therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives memorialize
    13  President Ronald Reagan to use the occasion of the Geneva Summit
    14  Meeting to work with Secretary Gorbachev of the U.S.S.R. toward
    15  an immediate halt on nuclear testing, leading to further
    16  negotiations for a comprehensive test ban treaty; and be it
    17  further


     1     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     2  the President of the United States, to the presiding officers of
     3  each house of Congress and to each member of Congress from
     4  Pennsylvania.
