           AFFLERBACH, FREEMAN, McHALE, WAMBACH, RYBAK, COHEN, DeWEESE,
           E. Z. TAYLOR, JOSEPHS, KOSINSKI, ACOSTA, STEWART AND SHOWERS,
           OCTOBER 16, 1985

        ADOPTED, OCTOBER 16, 1985

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of October 20 through 26, 1985, as
     2     "Pennsylvania Businesswomen's Week."

     3     WHEREAS, More than 46.2 million women account for 40.5% of
     4  the labor force in the United States; and
     5     WHEREAS, Beyond joining the labor force in greater numbers,
     6  women are moving into occupations traditionally dominated by
     7  men, breaking barriers previously set by men; and
     8     WHEREAS, In every field women have made significant advances.
     9  In increasing numbers they are becoming doctors, lawyers,
    10  professors, stockbrokers, architects, engineers, ministers and
    11  politicians; and
    12     WHEREAS, The personal achievements, accomplishments,
    13  intellectual abilities and promise of further success by women
    14  in the labor force have made a dramatic impact on the local,
    15  state and national levels; and
    16     WHEREAS, These able-bodied, strong-willed, independent
    17  thinking, hard-working, intelligent women have proved their

     1  worth in the business world; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
     3  week of October 20 through 26, 1985, as "Pennsylvania
     4  Businesswomen's Week," and recognize, honor and applaud the
     5  talent of Pennsylvania businesswomen and the value of their
     6  labor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Nation.
