        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JUNE 3, 1985

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the House Insurance Committee to conduct an
     2     investigation into the availability and cost of general
     3     liability insurance and automobile insurance in this
     4     Commonwealth.

     5     WHEREAS, It is evident that the procurement of general
     6  liability insurance in this Commonwealth in many fields of
     7  endeavor and, in some areas of this Commonwealth, automobile
     8  insurance, is becoming increasingly difficult due to severely
     9  limited availability; and
    10     WHEREAS, The cost of such insurance that is still available
    11  is increasing at an alarming rate and, in many instances, is
    12  prohibitive; and
    13     WHEREAS, It is imperative that affordable general liability
    14  insurance and automobile insurance be made readily available to
    15  the citizens and businesses of this Commonwealth to ensure
    16  continued economic growth and protection for the citizens;
    17  therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the House
     2  Insurance Committee to conduct an in-depth investigation into
     3  the availability and cost of general liability insurance and
     4  automobile insurance in this Commonwealth; and be it further
     5     RESOLVED, That the committee may hold hearings, take
     6  testimony and make its investigations at such places as it deems
     7  necessary in this Commonwealth. Each member of the committee
     8  shall have power to administer oaths and affirmations to
     9  witnesses appearing before the committee; and be it further
    10     RESOLVED, That the committee report its findings and its
    11  recommendations for any necessary remedial legislation to the
    12  House of Representatives by December 1, 1985.
