                            A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

     1  Granting honorary status as citizens of Pennsylvania to William
     2     and Hannah Penn.

     3     WHEREAS, William and Hannah Penn made significant
     4  contributions to early America yet they never became American
     5  citizens since America did not exist until many years after
     6  their deaths; and
     7     WHEREAS, Many of the liberties and rights which we enjoy
     8  today can be traced to William Penn's "Concessions and
     9  Agreements"; and
    10     WHEREAS, Penn's "Holy Experiment," based largely upon the
    11  doctrine of religious toleration with civil rights became an
    12  important facet in early American life; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
    14  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania grant honorary Pennsylvania
    15  citizenship status unto William and Hannah Penn, the founders of


     1  this great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
