                            A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

     1  Creating a special commission to study the need to rehabilitate
     2     the Pennsylvania Memorial at Gettysburg National Military
     3     Park.

     4     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Memorial at Gettysburg National
     5  Military Park is the largest State memorial in the park; and
     6     WHEREAS, More than 32,000 Pennsylvanians who took part in the
     7  Battle of Gettysburg are honored on 90 regimental plaques which
     8  are part of the memorial; and
     9     WHEREAS, 1985 marks the 75th anniversary of the consecration
    10  of the Pennsylvania Memorial; and
    11     WHEREAS, The nine bronze statues and 90 bronze regimental
    12  plaques are in need of repair; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That a special commission
    14  of five members be established to study the need to rehabilitate
    15  the Pennsylvania Memorial at Gettysburg National Military Park
    16  to be comprised of two Senators and two House members, to be
    17  appointed by the presiding officers of each House, and the
    18  Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum

     1  Commission or his designee; and be it further
     2     RESOLVED, That the commission report its findings and
     3  recommendations to the chairmen of the House and Senate
     4  appropriations committees before final action is taken on the
     5  1985-1986 General Appropriation Bill.
