           LLOYD, BELFANTI, TIGUE, BLAUM AND SALOOM, FEBRUARY 6, 1985

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, FEBRUARY 11, 1985

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the Committee on Mines and Energy Management to study
     2     the marketing and promotion of Pennsylvania coal.

     3     WHEREAS, The coal industry in Pennsylvania has always played
     4  an important role in the economy of this Commonwealth; and
     5     WHEREAS, The coal industry in Pennsylvania has continued
     6  declining in recent years and adversely affected employment in
     7  this Commonwealth; and
     8     WHEREAS, Coal, both anthracite and bituminous, are an
     9  important source of energy for this Commonwealth and Nation; and
    10     WHEREAS, The economy of this Commonwealth would be
    11  substantially benefited by a resurgence in our coal industry
    12  with increased production and employment; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the Committee on Mines and Energy Management
    14  of the House of Representatives study and investigate the coal
    15  industry in this Commonwealth.
