                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of November 10, 1965 (P.L.835, No.351),
     2     entitled "An act providing pensions for surviving spouses of
     3     police officers in cities of the second class A under certain
     4     terms and conditions, and providing for contributions by
     5     members of the police pension or retirement fund and
     6     appropriations by the city for that purpose," further
     7     providing for contributions by members and annual
     8     appropriations by the city.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  Sections 4 and 5 of the act of November 10, 1965
    12  (P.L.835, No.351), entitled "An act providing pensions for
    13  surviving spouses of police officers in cities of the second
    14  class A under certain terms and conditions, and providing for
    15  contributions by members of the police pension or retirement
    16  fund and appropriations by the city for that purpose," are
    17  amended to read:
    18     Section 4.  [Each] Except to the extent that subsection (c)
    19  of section 607 of the act of December 18, 1984 (P.L.1005,
    20  No.205), known as the "Municipal Pension Plan Funding Standard


     1  and Recovery Act," applies, each member who elects to be
     2  governed under the provisions of this act shall agree to
     3  contribute one percent of his earned compensation in addition to
     4  all other contributions required by law and ordinances adopted
     5  pursuant thereto.
     6     Section 5.  The annual appropriation made by cities of the
     7  second class A for the purpose of paying police pension or
     8  retirement allowances shall be sufficient[, when added to the
     9  contributions made by members during such year, sums received
    10  from tax distributions and income from investments, to pay in
    11  full the retirement allowances and the pensions authorized by
    12  this act for surviving spouses payable during such year.] to
    13  meet the minimum obligation of the municipality with respect to
    14  the pension plan pursuant to the act of December 18, 1984
    15  (P.L.1005, No.205), known as the "Municipal Pension Plan Funding
    16  Standard and Recovery Act."
    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
