AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," providing for instruction in
6 cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the last two years of high <--
7 school.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 1605 of the act of March 10, 1949
11 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
12 amended by adding a subsection to read:
13 Section 1605. Courses of Study.--* * *
14 (c) During each of the last two years of any complete high <--
15 school program, there shall be included a course of instruction
16 in cardiopulmonary resuscitation for all pupils. The Secretary
17 of Education shall direct a course of instruction to be prepared
18 to assist school districts in complying with the provisions of
19 this section.
1 (C) IN GRADES NINE THROUGH TWELVE INSTRUCTION IN <--
2 CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION SHALL BE PROVIDED TO ALL STUDENTS
3 ATTENDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THE SECRETARY OF EDUCATION SHALL
4 ESTABLISH AN INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM TO ASSIST SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN
5 COMPLYING WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION.
