        AS RE-REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON APPROPRIATIONS, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, NOVEMBER 26, 1985

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 31, 1971 (P.L.398, No.96), entitled
     2     "An act providing for the creation, maintenance and operation
     3     of a county employes' retirement system, and imposing certain
     4     charges on counties and providing penalties," further
     5     providing for supplemental benefits.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 30 of the act of August 31, 1971
     9  (P.L.398, No.96), known as the County Pension Law, is amended to
    10  read:
    11     Section 30.  Supplemental Benefits.--(a)  Every member who is
    12  in receipt of a [member's] county annuity shall receive annually
    13  a cost-of-living increase which shall be the product of the
    14  retirement allowance determined at the time of retirement LESS    <--
    15  ANY WITHDRAWAL OF A MEMBER'S ANNUITY UNDER SECTION 15.1 OF THIS
    16  ACT and prior to optional modification or minimum allowance and
    17  the following percentages as determined by the calendar year in
    18  which retirement became effective:

    17      1952              24%
    18     (b)  The cost-of-living increase shall be reviewed at least
    19  once in every three years by the board which may adjust the
    20  percentages in accordance with cost-of-living index at the time
    21  of review.
    22     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
