                                     AN ACT

     1  Providing for an eye care program for senior citizens; and
     2     making an appropriation from the State Lottery Fund.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Short title.
     6     This act shall be known and may be cited as the Senior
     7  Citizens Eye Care Act.
     8  Section 2.  Definitions.
     9     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
    10  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
    11  context clearly indicates otherwise:
    12     "Department."  The Department of Aging of the Commonwealth.
    13     "Eligible senior citizen."  Any person qualified, or whose
    14  spouse is qualified, under the act of March 11, 1971 (P.L.104,
    15  No.3), known as the Senior Citizens Rebate and Assistance Act.
    16  Section 3.  Program.
    17     The department shall develop and implement a program for the


     1  reimbursement of eligible senior citizens for the cost of lenses
     2  and frames. Eligible senior citizens may receive this
     3  reimbursement only once in any two-year period. The maximum
     4  amount of reimbursement shall be $50.
     5  Section 4.  Rules and regulations.
     6     The department shall, in the manner provided by law,
     7  promulgate the rules and regulations necessary to carry out this
     8  act.
     9  Section 5.  Appropriation.
    10     The sum of $250,000, or as much thereof as may be necessary,
    11  is hereby appropriated from the State Lottery Fund to the
    12  Department of Aging for the fiscal year July 1, 1985, to June
    13  30, 1986, to carry out the provisions of this act.
    14  Section 6.  Effective date.
    15     This act shall take effect immediately.
