AN ACT
1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, clarifying a certain exception to the
3 Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act relating to prison guards.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 6106(b)(1) of Title 18 of the
7 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
8 § 6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license.

10 (b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) [of this
11 section] shall not apply to:
12 (1) Constables, sheriffs, prison or jail wardens, or
13 their deputies, including all guards at State and local
14 prisons, jails and other correctional facilities, policemen
15 of this Commonwealth or its political subdivisions, or other
16 law-enforcement officers.

18 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
