AN ACT
1 Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled
2 "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth,
3 sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising,
4 consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto,"
5 authorizing certain county commissioners to pay additional
6 compensation to certain sheriffs.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. The act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130),
10 known as The County Code, is amended by adding a section to
11 read:
12 Section 1556. Additional Compensation for Certain
13 Sheriffs.--Whenever any sheriff of a county of the sixth,
14 seventh or eighth class serves as a jailer or warden under the
15 act of May 11, 1949 (P.L.1191, No.359), entitled "An act for the
16 government, management and control of county jails and prisons
17 in counties of sixth, seventh and eighth classes," the county
18 commissioners of that county may pay such additional
19 compensation to the sheriff as they deem reasonable and
1 necessary.
2 Section 2. This act shall apply when constitutionally
3 permissible.
4 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
