AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for the attire for
6 students and for a discipline code.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
10 as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding sections
11 to read:
12 Section 1317.1. Discipline Code.-- The board of school
13 directors of any school district may implement a discipline code
14 for students. If the board of school directors does adopt a
15 discipline code, such code shall require teachers to notify a
16 parent or guardian by letter or, if possible, by telephone, if
17 they are having a discipline problem with the parent's or
18 guardian's child prior to any formal action by the board of
19 school directors.
1 Section 1317.2. Dress Code; Students.--The board of school
2 directors in all school districts may establish a dress code for
3 students when they are present upon school grounds.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
