AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," providing for an expanded computation
6 of distance for transported pupils.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 1366 of the act of March 10, 1949
10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
11 amended to read:
12 Section 1366. Computation of Distances.--Where, by the terms
13 of this act, or any other act, any distance is specified between
14 the residence of any pupil and any public school to be attended
15 by him, or any transportation is provided for within or beyond
16 any particular distance, in computing such distance no allowance
17 shall be made for the distance that the dwelling house of the
18 pupil is situated off the public highway. All such distances
19 shall be computed by the public highway from the nearest point
1 where a private way or private road connects the dwelling house
2 of the pupil with the highway to the [nearest point where said
3 highway touches the school grounds] main entrance of the school
4 building to which the pupil has been assigned.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
