                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, increasing penalties for violations of use of
     3     inspection certificates.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 4730(c) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 4730.  Violations of use of certificate of inspection.
     9     * * *
    10     (c)  Penalty.--[A violation of the provisions of this section
    11  constitutes a summary offense punishable:
    12         (1)  For a first offense, by a fine of $100.
    13         (2)  For a subsequent offense,]
    14         (1)  A first offense under this section shall be a
    15     summary offense punishable by a fine of not less than $200
    16     nor more than $500 or imprisonment for not more than 90 days,
    17     or both.
    18         (2)  A subsequent offense shall be a misdemeanor of the

     1     third degree.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
