AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," further providing for economic 6 supplements. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Section 2502.11(c) of the act of March 10, 1949 10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, 11 amended June 29, 1984 (P.L.438, No.93), is amended to read: 12 Section 2502.11. Economic Supplement.--* * * 13 (c) For the school year 1982-1983 and each school year 14 thereafter, any district which levies and collects local taxes 15 for school purposes equal to or above the median equalized 16 millage, as defined in section 2501(9.3), in the year for which 17 reimbursement is determined shall qualify for and receive a 18 payment based upon local tax effort and population per square 19 mile in accordance with the following table, except for
1 qualifying districts which include a central city of a Standard 2 Metropolitan Statistical Area and have a district population of 3 less than four thousand (4,000) persons per square mile, which 4 districts shall receive three percent (3%) of their 5 instructional expenditures: 6 Population Per Square Mile Payment as Percent of 7 of the Qualifying District Instructional Expenditure 8 5,950 and over 5 9 [4,000] 3,900 - 5,949 3 10 less than [4,000] 3,900 1 11 Notwithstanding the provisions of this subsection, districts 12 having a general population of five thousand nine hundred fifty 13 (5,950) or more persons per square mile and at least thirty-five 14 thousand (35,000) WADMs shall be paid nineteen percent (19%) of 15 their instructional expenditures. 16 Section 2. Notwithstanding any other provisions of the act 17 to which this is an amendment, the board of school directors of 18 each school district is authorized to reopen its 1984-1985 19 budget to make any revisions in the budget heretofore adopted or 20 for the purpose of reducing tax levies to reflect an anticipated 21 increase in the economic supplement payable to the school 22 district during the 1984-1985 fiscal year under the provisions 23 of this act. 24 Section 3.
