AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation to the Office of Attorney General for
2 the payment of certain moral claims against the Commonwealth.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The sum of $60,000, or as much thereof as may be
6 necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Office of Attorney
7 General for the payment of moral claims against the Commonwealth
8 arising from the wrongful imprisonment for five years for the
9 alleged commission of crimes in violation of the penal laws of
10 this Commonwealth, of a person who has been proven innocent by
11 evidence discovered later, and for reimbursement for any loss
12 due to personal injury or sickness, including, but not limited
13 to, the loss of reputation, good will, savings, attorney fees
14 and other costs in defense against prosecution for the aforesaid
15 crimes, as well as any other physical or mental deprivation,
16 including the deprivation of personal or civil rights.
17 Section 2. Payment from the appropriation shall be made by
1 requisition of the Office of Attorney General upon proof of the
2 claim to the satisfaction of the Office of Attorney General and
3 the Auditor General.
4 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
