HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 224 Session of 1984


        INTRODUCED BY PICCOLA, KLINGAMAN, VAN HORNE, MICOZZIE, HERSHEY,
           MORRIS AND HERMAN, MAY 14, 1984

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, MAY 15, 1984

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging the Pennsylvania Game Commission to reconsider its action
     2     which greatly increased the annual license rates for
     3     television cable power sites located on State game lands.

     4     WHEREAS, Section 906 of The Game Law authorizes the
     5  Pennsylvania Game Commission to grant rights-of-ways on State
     6  game lands when such grants do not adversely affect wildlife
     7  habitat; and
     8     WHEREAS, At the Pennsylvania Game Commission's meetings in
     9  January and August of 1983, the commission approved significant
    10  annual rental increases for all communication power site
    11  licenses using State game lands, to be effective with the 1984
    12  license year; and
    13     WHEREAS, In some cases the increase was 100%, with a
    14  potential increase of 100% for some growing cable companies; and
    15     WHEREAS, Increases are justified if they are kept within
    16  inflation guidelines; therefore be it
    17     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the


     1  Pennsylvania Game Commission to reconsider its action which
     2  greatly increased the annual license rates for television cable
     3  power sites located on State game lands so that the increases
     4  are within inflation guidelines; and be it further
     5     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the
     6  Pennsylvania Game Commission.
