                            A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

     1  A resolution memorializing Congress to hold oversight hearings
     2     on Federal Communications Commission regulations and to
     3     establish a National Public Safety Telecommunications Policy.

     4     WHEREAS, The promotion of public safety, including the
     5  protection of life and property, is of paramount importance to
     6  our society; and
     7     WHEREAS, The maintenance of adequate public safety can only
     8  be accomplished through the effective delivery of police, fire
     9  and other emergency services; and
    10     WHEREAS, Police, fire and other emergency agencies cannot
    11  function effectively and efficiently without adequate
    12  communications; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
    14  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize Congress to hold
    15  oversight hearings on the regulations promulgated by the Federal
    16  Communications Commission and to amend the Federal
    17  Communications Act of 1934 for the purpose of establishing a
    18  National Public Safety Telecommunications Policy; and be it

     2     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     3  the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each
     4  member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
