A RESOLUTION 1 House congratulates the 1982-1983 Pennsylvania State University 2 "Nittany Lions" football team on being named national 3 champions. 4 WHEREAS, The 1982-1983 Pennsylvania State University football
1 team has been named the Number One team in the Nation by both 2 United Press International and the Associated Press; and 3 WHEREAS, The 1982-1983 Nittany Lion football team achieved an 4 11-1 record, including a Sugar Bowl victory over the previously 5 undefeated University of Georgia; and 6 WHEREAS, The spirit of cooperation, determination and 7 sportsmanship shown by the Pennsylvania State University 8 football team has been a credit to the University and the 9 Commonwealth; therefore be it 10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 11 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby honors and congratulates the 12 1982-1983 Pennsylvania State University football team on its 13 various achievements, and on being named the national champions; 14 and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Head 16 Coach Joe Paterno, and to each member of the 1982-1983 National 17 Championship Nittany Lion football team, its staff and coaches.
