        INTRODUCED BY E. Z. TAYLOR, JUNE 13, 1984

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON STATE GOVERNMENT, JUNE 13, 1984

                                     AN ACT

1 Declaring and adopting the song "Summer Days and Nights," words
2 and music by Jens Rudat, as the State song of the
     3 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. The song "Summer Days and Nights," words and
7 music by Jens Rudat, is hereby adopted as the State song of
8 Pennsylvania and shall be the official song for all public
9 purposes. The words of the song are as follows:
    10 SUMMER DAYS AND NIGHTS
    11 Verse 1:
12 I've grown fond of these hot summer days,
13 Trying to find the cool, cool shade and now
14 I'm thinking that they might go away,
15 What would we have, just the rain?
    16 Verse 2:
    17 Love you, Pennsylvania,
18 Your summer days and nights are long,

     1 Love you, Pennsylvania,
2 Your mountains and corn fields are home.
     3 Verse 3:
4 Curves and winding roads, they never seem to end,
5 Every time I look at you, I find a brand new friend.
6 You know I might travel far, but I won't come to an end,
7 Your country voice it keeps on calling to the wind.
     8 Chorus
9 I might sit back and just look at you a while,
10 Still keeping up with all the latest going by,
11 Some may have loved you but the feeling's not the same,
12 What would you be without your sunshine and your rain?
13 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
